Warm your heart. Taipei

ohhhhhhh the shopping was great but the food was hell better. our room at the YHA was nice, after a few days it looked as if it was some make shift room for immigrants with shopping bags all over the place. The flight was good considered Jetstar being a no frills airline and i bought this kiddy box from the duty free onboard.

Our first night was spent at Ximending, and the first thing we headed for was food. The road side stalls were puffing out delicious aromas of food. and when the police came, u can see carts running to some alley to hide before coming out again when the policemen are gone. we tried the bubble milk tea and it was so good it made me buy another cup and more as the days went by. The ones made by Legend Tea Bar are the best and their outlets can be found all over the place.

there's this stall selling grilled thingys on sticks, not bad. oh and the smelly toufu is really smelly, the smell becomes the taste. but not as bad as the one i had in xitang china. beng tried one at Danshui and he said it tasted nice with no pungent smell, i didn't take a bite.

the shops at ximending closes at around 10.30pm but although some of the clothes and stuff are on the pricier side, they do carry many unique and stylish apparels and merchandise that are worth buying. on the way back to the hostel... when we've arrived at the train station, we did some stupid things like jumping off the stairs trying to get a mid air photo.

We woke up early the next morning to try taipei's local breakfast and we were not disappointed at all. The friendly receptionist at the hostel suggested we walk a street down and there was a row of shops selling "zhao dian". settling for this crepe shop, i had egg crepe with bacon and hot red tea, delicious.

we made our way to Dihua street and there, the friendly shop keepers selling dried goods such as mushrooms, black fungus, nuts, herbs, dried scallops and abalone chatted with us about the education system difference of both countries and here we bought almond powder and one of the local products, dried mango. the taste was much pure and fragrant as compared to the ones we have in singapore. the old man at the shop said that they only produce these dried mangoes when there's a surplus during harvest.

Near DiHua street is an area where handicraft enthu especially those into garments must go as the shops there sells beads and buttons and beautiful decor items for your cloth works. Our shopping adventure brought us to Shiping street and please do not visit this place unless you wanna buy clothes for your aunts. however if you have lotsa money, just along the main roads u can find well known brands.

We made our way to Yan Ping shoe street and it was another disappointment as the shoes there were nothing special. however i got myself two pretty plates to place my desserts on for photo taking. The wind blew us back to Ximending for more exploring of the smaller streets and i realised that the people of taipei are in love witht his brown fuzzy dog which acts as a perfect rug. Cute ^.^

I got myself this local brand ice creme, it was some black cherry flavour and boy it tasted good.

Crazy Night

Rendevous with my room service friends at asylum for some drinks. the cocktails there are not worth mentioning... infact they suck! the night brought us to Lao Pa Sat and the bbq food there was horrendous. we felt cheated of our money, the bbq stingray was half cooked, the cockles were not great and the la-la was small and the taste of the chilli was like dead.

a walk at raffles place brought us to some new heights by playing ice and water at 3am in the morning. gosh it was darn tiring... hahaha. well u see because i am about to sleep and fly off to taipei, i shall write less and let the pictures tell you the story of the crazy night.
