Once upon a time in Beijing

I took a little holiday to the capital after Christmas and my goodness i was reminded of why i love the sunny weather of Singapore and why i love the city state even when it rains. we met up with wei yuan and did some crazy things from eating mcdonalds on the top of the great wall with murderous winds to getting our own starbucks mug. A visit to the forbidden city left me wondering how the people of ancient times lived as the place is really a city within a city with numerous buildings and alleys.

I can simply imagine walking down one of those alleys alone with those high stone walls looming over me during a grey and snowy winter, a city of secrets and mysteries. Standing at some balcony with my signature cuppa tea while looking out across the palace as the snow falls while little specks of light glow from the distance as the city prepares for the night. With the moon shining at its fullest above it will be a really wintery scene to enjoy.

Dreams aside, compared to shanghai the capital of china somehow isn't as lively and vibrant. Walking down the streets i somehow feel alone and looking at the buildings lining the street it gives me shudders as though the city has been abandon long ago. ahhh but its good to be back in shanghai although the temperature is dropping too.

Merry Christmas From Shanghai

Oh… it’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is here and what a different feeling it was spending my first Christmas overseas away from my family and friends back home. What I felt was a tingle of joy and warmth in my heart as the world celebrates Christmas while here I am on my bed typing away, listening to Christmas carols. It was really nice of Sheryl as she bought me a card and met me after work at the hotel as we welcomed a quiet Christmas at the hotel lobby taking pictures with the tree. Although Christmas is not celebrated widely in Shanghai as compared to Singapore, it’s that time of the year when you start thinking of presents to buy and nevertheless I had to share the joys of giving presents to my colleagues, family and friends.
